“Pata de Perro"
Photos of a Vagabond Lifestyle
Morgan Grays Exhibition at Camino Real Oaxaca
(Oaxaca, June 1, 2005) Morgan Grays, the lifestyle-art collaboration of Morgan Molthrop and Stewart Grays, announced today that the Oaxaca Camino Real Hotel has chosen it to present an exhibition from July 2 – 15 in its historic 16th century chapel.

The exhibit will include a dozen large format photographs on canvas of a six month journey from Southern California through Mexico in a 1952 GMC pick-up truck, also on display in the chapel. The images evoke the color and diversity of a country caught between two worlds: a rich, historic past and a future as an integral part of a modernizing global community.
“Our fusion approach allows for a liberal amount of creativity because we choose artisans and craftspeople with a corollary vision,” said Stewart Grays, President of MG. Exhibitions are designed by the MG team and executed by local craftspeople. MG’s inaugural line of life-style accessories reflects a taste for Mexican leather and woven textiles.

“Pata de Perro” opens to the public on July 2 and will remain on view through July 15. A gala black tie event on July 4 officially opens the exhibit. In addition to the large format photos, the exhibit will include:
- a recreation of the Morgan Grays “Centro” Oaxaca apartment
- a pool-side Mexican surf scene inspired by Puerto Escondido
- a 19th century farmacia found in Puebla and reconstructed by a local carpenter
The altar of the former chapel will hold an 8 foot by 12 foot photograph printed in acrylic on mesh.

Charitable Contributions to Pueblo Jaguar

A percentage of the profits from the show will go to Pueblo Jaguar AC, a foundation created to protect jaguars by supporting indigenous agricultural industries in the region.
“As global agribusiness takes its toll on regional farms, large ranches are displacing small farmers and jaguar habitats,” explained Grays.
Morgan Grays will introduce coffee, cocoa and chili products under the label “Jaguar MG” to support local farms and draw attention to the plight of the jaguars. These products will be sold at the gallery shop of the exhibition.
