The fourth International Organ and early
Music Festival, Oaxaca, México
NOVEMBER 19-22, 2004 and MARCH 11-13, 2005
For the fourth consecutive year, the Instituto de Órganos Históricos
de Oaxaca is presenting an organ and early music festival in order to
give local, national, and international enthusiasts a chance to hear concerts
of XVI-XVIII century music on six of the seven restored Oaxacan organs.
This year the organ in Sta. María Tamazulapam will be included
for the first time, to be added to those in Tlacochahuaya, San Andrés
Zautla, the Basílica of the Soledad, Yanhuitlán and the
Oaxaca Cathedral. Also for the first time, the Festival will be divided
into two parts, because there are simply too many organs, most of them
geographically dispersed, to hear in the course of one extended weekend.
Besides the scheduled concerts, this year´s program will include:
during the first part, an all-day field trip to the Mixteca Alta, a sumptuous
meal in Zautla and a guided tour to Monte Albán ; and during the
second part, master classes with the renowned organist Luigi Fernando
Tagliavini . You may read a description of last year's Festival here.
We look forward to having you join us in November for another extraordinary
musical adventure!
